I have
been a member of Pasos For Pleasure for many years and have
done many things on my Paso to promote the breed. I trail ride and do
local shows and demonstrations. I also do parades and a few endurance
races. Once I was told by an Arabian rider behind me that I was on “a
rocking chair with an engine”.
Of all my
time spent working with horses, I think I have spent the most time
riding in bird dog field trials. With the nationals being close by in
LaGrange, TN, it makes it easy for me to be involved as much as I am.
My friends and I have been riding the gallery behind this event for
about fourteen years. Having 300 to 1,000 people on horseback makes it
very difficult to see what’s happening up front, but we enjoy the ride
and fellowship. I have many memories of cold February mornings
watching the dogs let loose with the judges following close behind.
It’s a beautiful thing to see.
